Course description
Soils of the world is a normative discipline for students majoring in 103 “Earth Sciences” of the educational program “Soil Science and Expert Assessment of Lands” for bachelors. It is taught in the 6th semester in the amount of 3.5 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).
The basic training course “Soils of the World” contains information, whose knowledge is necessary and mandatory for students of soil science. The program involves the study of the history of the science of soils of the world, the stages of formation of the knowledge base and relevant scientific theories, the geography of soils of individual continents. The information on the factors of soil formation on individual continents is provided, morphological features of soils, their properties, nature of use and protection are considered. The problems of degradation as a global world are highlighted.
