Course description

“Metrology, standardization, certification and accreditation” is a normative discipline for students of the speciality “Environmental Protection Technologies” of the educational program of master’s degree. It is taught in the 2nd semester in the amount of 5 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).

The curriculum of the course acquaints with scientific, normative and organizational bases of metrology, standardization, certification and accreditation and forms knowledge, abilities and skills in the specified branches of activity for maintenance of efficiency of nature protection activity.

As a result of studying the discipline, the student will master the terms and definitions in the field of metrology, standardization, confirmation of conformity and accreditation; theoretical and legal principles of standardization in Ukraine; the main provisions of environmental quality standards; history of development of measuring instruments; units of measurement; the basic principles of confirming compliance of environmental management systems with environmental requirements; international and regional organizations for standardization, metrology and certification; basic principles of licensing and accreditation of universities.
