“Virtual visit to the parks of Pennsylvania State University” ONLINE SEMINAR

On July 6, 2021, an online seminar was organized by Pennsylvania State University (USA) and Znesinnya Regional Landscape Park (Lviv) with the organizational and technical support from Geography Faculty of the Lviv Ivan Franko National University.

This seminar was initiated by Ulyana Taras – director of Znesinnya Regional Landscape Park, who established contacts with representatives of the University of Pennsylvania during her internship in the United States. The online-workshop included presentations on eco-education, management of recreational areas and experimental forestry within the green zone of the Stone Valley. These reports were presented by Mark McLaughlin, Director of the Environmental Education Center, Jason Beale, Director of the Aviary bird shelterfare, Jason Erdman, Director of Recreation management, and Joe Harding, Director of Experimental Forests within the Stone Valley Park System. The moderators were Yuri Bigun, Program Advisor of Woskob New Century Fund, and Anna Butler, a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania. On the Ukrainian side, Oleksandr Zavadovych, Deputy Director of the Znesinnya Regional Landscape Park, presented a report on the environmental, ecological, educational and recreational activities of Znesinnya Regional Landscape Park.
Associate Professor Pavlo Telish and Senior Lecturer Yuriy Zinko took part in the discussions with American partners. It is planned to continue cooperation on scientific and educational issues and on development of joint implementation projects with the involvement of the Regional Landscape Park “Znesinnya” and Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko.
