Course description

In the course “Soil Physics” students are given detailed information about the main phases of soil: solid, liquid, and gaseous.

The course presents a brief overview of the history of the formation of “Soil Physics” as a science, characterizes the basic physical properties of soils; granulometric, micro aggregate and structural-aggregate composition, water-physical, air, thermal, electrical properties and soil regimes, describes the methods of their research and performance of laboratory-analytical work, and considers their applied value for production, agriculture, in particular, melioration. Particular emphasis is placed on anthropogenic changes in the physical properties of soils in the context of the development of degradation processes.
