Course description
“Business ethics in the hospitality industry” is an elective discipline in the specialty 241 “Hotel and restaurant business” of a bachelor’s degree program. It is planned in the 4-th termand comprises 4 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer and Transfer System ECTS).
The purpose of the discipline “Business Ethics in the Hospitality Industry” is to gain deeper knowledge about features of moral and ethical norms of behavior in the field of hotel and restaurant business by students-specialists in tourism. That is helpful for future employees of the hospitality industry to easily establish business contacts with both customers and business partners, regardless of their national, ethnic and other differences.
The course curriculum provides consideration of the conceptual apparatus of business ethics in the hospitality industry, service etiquette in the hotel and restaurant industry, norms of business ethics in standard situations and in the hotel and restaurant industry in the country and abroad, preparation and holding of business meetings in the hospitality industry, the concept of negotiations in solving conflicts in business relations, etc.
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to ethically serve customers, prepare and conduct business negotiations, form means of increasing efficiency of the tourist enterprise by improving the work environment, organize the system of rules of business etiquette of own enterprise in tourism, and maintain ethical subordination in the team.
