Course description

The course “Quality assessment of soils” is an initial normative discipline for students of the speciality 103 Earth Science (Geography) of the educational program of bachelor’s degree, which is taught in the IV year in the VIII semester in the amount of 3 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).

The course is designed to acquaint students with the main stages of quality assessment of soils in Ukraine, types of quality assessment of soils and areas of practical application of acquired knowledge.

The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the history of the origin and development of quality assessment of soils, types, principles and criteria for their assessments, stages and procedure for modalities, as well as with the methods of natural-agricultural zoning.

After completing this course the student will know the methods, tasks and areas of practical application of soil quality assessment, principles, criteria and types of soil quality assessment; methodic of soil quality assessment in Ukraine. The students will be able to conduct independently a soil quality assessment of one of the farms with a full cycle of modalities; to conduct a monetary assessment of the land where the quality assessment of soils have been conducted.
