At the beginning of September 2026, Professor Andrii Bogucki and Associate Professor Olena Tomeniuk of the Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography took part in the international scientific conference LoessFest 2026, held in Krapets, Bulgaria, on the picturesque Black Sea coast. We are pleased to note that our researchers also contributed to the work of the Scientific Committee of the conference.
The conference was organised by the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with the support of the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA). The event brought together researchers from France, Germany, Poland, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Denmark, Hungary, Türkiye, China, India, Brazil and other countries.
Ukrainian research was also represented at the international level. Andriy Bogucki and Olena Tomeniuk delivered three presentations in which they presented the results of their research into palaeocryogenesis and archaeological cultural horizons preserved within the loess-palaeosol sequences of Ukraine. These studies are being carried out within the framework of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine project “Pleistocene Geomorphological Heritage: Periglacial Landforms of Ukraine’s Loess Uplands as a Chronicle of Global Climate Change.”
