Geological and Geomorphological Field Training of GRN-11s Students

From June 7 to 14, 2025, first-year students of group GRN-11c from the Faculty of Geography at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv took part in the geological and geomorphological module of their field training. The practice was conducted under the supervision of faculty members from the Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography — Professor Andriy Bogucki and Associate Professor Olena Tomeniuk.

Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in field conditions near Lviv. In particular, participants:

  • studied the geological structure of the area, landform features, and natural springs, which have long been valued as sources of high-quality drinking water;
  • observed active geomorphological processes;
  • worked with topographic maps and improved their orientation and navigation skills;
  • described geological sections and collected rock samples.

The field training was not only a crucial component of professional education but also a truly engaging experience in teamwork, active exploration of the natural environment, and direct interaction with real-world research objects. The students demonstrated strong organisation, responsibility, and genuine interest in fieldwork.

We sincerely thank our students for their dedication and active participation!

We invite you to view a selection of photos taken by Associate Professor Olena Tomeniuk, which capture the spirit of this rich and inspiring journey.
