January 28 – February 1, 2025: The XIV Field School-Seminar “Research on Winter Landscape Conditions,” Dedicated to the Memory of Professor Anatolii Vasylovych Melnyk
From January 28 to February 1, 2025, the XIV Field School-Seminar “Research on Winter Landscape Conditions” was held at the Chornohora Geographical Station, dedicated to the memory of Professor Anatolii Vasylovych Melnyk.
The event was organized by the Departments of Geoecology, Physical Geography, and Rational Use of Natural Resources and Nature Protection, with the support of the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Associate Professor Volodymyr Bilaniuk, and the University Administration.
Students, postgraduates, and staff from the Faculty of Geography of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Faculty of Geography of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University participated in the seminar. Additionally, discussions on the current state of nature conservation in the Carpathian region featured contributions from:
Oleksandr Kyselyuk, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Carpathian National Nature Park,
Zoriana Hostiuk, Senior Researcher of the Hutsulshchyna National Nature Park
A total of 17 participants attended the field school.
The seminar included:
Scientific meetings
Field training on snow measurement surveys
Introduction to the methodology of stationary landscape monitoring studies
A field route along the Prut River valley

- Ivanka Slobodyan (LNU) – “Rare Wetland Habitats of the Shatsk Lake District”
- Ivan Sukhan (UzhNU) – “Geological Foundation Formation of the Polonyna Krasna Mountain Massif”
