Course description
“Landmarks of the Earth” is a general university elective discipline of Ivan Franko Lviv National University for the bachelor’s degree program, which is planned in the 6-th semester in the amount of 3 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).
The purpose of studying the discipline is to broaden the horizons and general level of students and acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills of research of prominent objects of animate and inanimate nature, which have natural-cognitive, scientific, aesthetic and recreational value, as well as the ability to apply acquired knowledge in various practical activities (cognitive and local lore, tourist and recreational, research, environmental and educational, etc.).
Landmarks of the Earth (rocks, valleys, waterfalls, caves, geysers, lakes and swamps, coral reefs, volcanoes, post-volcanic phenomena, earthquakes, meteorite craters, etc.) are protected as part of protected areas and at the same time are extremely interesting objects at designing recreational use of territories, organizing educational trips and paving tourist routes.
