Course description

“Modern geographical education and science” is a normative discipline for students majoring in Secondary Education (Geography), specialty 014 which is a bachelor educational program taught in the 4th term in the amount of 3 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System, ECTS).

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the current state of geographical education and science in Ukraine and the world.

The objectives of the course are: to develop a scientific professional world view, to teach students to make scientific contacts and to provide knowledge about the educational process peculiarities in the study of geography in schools and universities around the world. Upon completing the “Modern Geographical Education and Science” course the student will have mastered knowledge on: modern geographical education and science development in Ukraine and the world, geographical research institutions and their feature activities, leading geographical faculties, departments, famous geographers and their works, and science problems.

Students of the course will be able to navigate in the system of geographical science and education in Ukraine and the world, to determine its role and place in the training of specialists for the world economy, and to determine their prospects as a specialist geographer.
The “Modern Geographical Education and Science” course are aimed at analyzing the content of leading geographical scientific journals and educational programs taught in the geographical faculties in major universities in the world.
