Course description
The pedosphere of the Earth is a normative discipline for students majoring in “Earth Sciences (Geography)” of the educational program for masters. It is taught in the 3rd semester in the amount of 3 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).
The training course provides information about the Earth’s unique shell, the Earth’s pedosphere, its structure, conditions of formation and composition, ecological functions of the pedosphere, the importance of the pedosphere for the existence of life on the globe.
The stages of formation of the Earth’s pedosphere as a sphere are covered. The history of the development of the doctrine of the pedosphere is considered, the stages of its formation are highlighted. The peculiarities of the relationship between man and the pedosphere over the millennia in the context of the development of agriculture, land reclamation and the resulting processes of soil degradation and soil cover are analyzed.
