Course description

The discipline «Quality assessment of soils and its grading» is an initial normative discipline for students of the speciality 101 Ecology of the educational program of bachelor’s degree, which is taught in the IV year in the VIIth  semester in the amount of 3 credits (according to the European credit transfer system ECTS).

The course is designed to acquaint students with the main stages of soil quality assessment in Ukraine, types of soil quality assessment, methods of monetary valuation of agricultural land, areas of practical application of the acquired knowledge.

The purpose of the course is to acquaint students with the types, principles and criteria of evaluation, stages and the order of conducting work, as well as the methods of monetary valuation of land.

After completing this course the student will know the methods, tasks and areas of practical application of soil quality assessment, principles, criteria and types of soil quality assessment; methods of soil quality assessment in Ukraine. The students will be able to conduct independently a soil quality assessment of one of the farms with a full cycle of modalities; to conduct a monetary assessment of the land where the quality assessment of soils have been conducted.
